Yes Daylight savings time is here!! November 6th, Sunday at 2:00am turn your clocks back one hour! Wooo Hooo! Did you know one of the reasons Day Light Savings started was to save on wax used for candles? Yes, candles… which at that time was the source of light in the evenings. Wow, I know crazy isn’t it? I wonder why we are still doing it? Anyone have an answer for me?

- Pack flashlight with extra batteries
- Pack matches in water proof container; signal flares
- Pack work gloves, pliers, duct tape
- Pack a whistle, paper & pencil, deck of cards
- Pack a tube tent, plastic sheeting
- Pack toiletries, i.e., toilet paper, soap, toothbrush & paste, sanitary napkins, etc.
- Pack one change of clothing per person
- Pack “special needs” items for family members, i.e., infant formula, eye glasses, medications
- Pack sleeping bag or blankets

Check with your local fire department, they have a program called, ‘map your neighborhood’. They will help you and your neighbors establish a disaster readiness plan so you can help each other.
